I have worked with the Dept. of Fisheries and Oceans/Canadian Coast Guard for most of my working career. We, facilitate the gathering of oceanographic data for the scientific community that many of you would find fascinating, in addition to the other roles expected of us as a Coast Guard vessel.
I have sailed on several vessels and once again, presently a member of the C.C.G.S. Hudson. The accomplishments of the Hudson are far to many to list, suffice to say she is one of the premier oceanographic vessels of the world.

I actually became a Building Inspector and took my talents to my present home, here in beautiful Newfoundland. Miserable weather...tried to take NS's with me, but nah! Still loves it. In 1988 I was sent to Cyprus to be a UN peacekeeper and it was there that I met my wife, a Finnish citizen. After I left the army, I studied at Dalhousie University and graduated in 1995 with a BA in Social Anthropology (First Class Honours), and won a Bronze Medallion for academic excellence. In 1995 a completed a TESOL certificate, and after a few years of study at Memorial University, in 1999 my wife and I returned to Finland to live permanently. Since 1999 I have been working as an English teacher and anthropology researcher in the company I founded. In 2013 I should graduate from Helsinki University with an MA in Anthropology. What I am most proud of, my two incredible sons, Alexander and Timothy. |

About me, I joined the merchant marine a couple of years after high school, and a rather dismal showing at St. Mary's. I am still sailing the high seas, and am now a Chief Officer.

I left high school and went on to university and graduated with a business degree, marketing major. It took me a while to find work that I really enjoyed, and that all changed when I started working for Heritage Credit Union. I enjoyed five good years there, however my life long dream was to become a member of the RCMP and in 2011 at the age of 42 and with my wife's support I left for Regina Saskatchewan, completed 24 weeks of training and achieved my life long dream and goal. I am a strong believer that; life is short, that you are never to old, and that if you really want something and are willing to work hard for it, you can achieve it. |
